Day 2

Well dear readers, to update you from yesterday "SpiderGate" has reached a conclusion. In a little bit of backstory my bed is a cheap IKEA model which is basically two drawer units pushed together and a mattress on top. This is how I found my bed this morning:

Anyone who knows me knows that I am not one to jump to wild conclusions, however I think we can all be in agreement that the spider pried apart the two sections of my bed, escaped and has now gone to overthrow the government of the Peoples Republic of China in a bid to become the world's newest superpower.

Anyhoo.....

Today's item is one which brings joy everytime I have a long bus ride, long holding time on the phone, or just plain need to take my time in the toilet.

It is of course my trusty Game Boy pocket!

I first bought this item last year off ebay in a quest to collect all available iterations of the Nintendo Game Boy. However like my quest to collect every James Bond car, organise a Saved By The Bell reunion or get myself put in the will of all of the living Rolling Stones (I only got Ronnie Wood) it failed miserably, and this was my first and last Game Boy purchase.

When I bought it it had a big scratch on the screen and so I contacted the guy who sold it to me, who refunded my postage and sent me a replacement screen which was nice.

It is a great wee console with amazing games such as Super Mario Land 2, Metroid 2 and Pokemon Red and Blue, as well as under-rated or forgotten titles like Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Donald Duck Quackshot and many other duck related classics.

Unlike the original Game Boy which had (what appeared to be) a green display*, the Game Boy Pocket's display was pure black and white which meant less battery drain, and less light was needed to see the screen.

*The original Game Boy's display was actually NOT green, it was in fact comprised of four different shades of grey.

There are several different types of Game Boy Pocket including some with football team motifs and one with an added back-light which is regarded as the rarest of all the Game Boy, regularly attracting over a hundred £££'s on eBay.

All in all I give this Thing a 10/10 coz I LOVE it, and to finish off, heres a photo of my good friend Foley sharing a beer and a manly hug with up and coming young comedian Jack Whitehall.

Good night everyone!
